Our Story

Everyone Out is a not for profit social enterprise founded to get more kiwi kids outside in nature.

Everyone Out - a not for profit social enterprise.

Everyone Out Limited was set up by Rachel Prier, in 2016. Since then Rachel has run events at the Wellington Botanic Garden, Otari-Wilton’s Bush and Mt Victoria to encourage tamariki and their whanau to get out and enjoy the amazing green spaces Wellington has to offer. In October 2018 the first Everyone Out Holiday Programme was run in Crofton Downs.

The nature play holiday programme was very successful, with a lot of positive feedback from both parents and tamariki. In January 2020, Rachel hired experienced kaiako and opened Everyone Out Nature School in Crofton Downs, Wellington. Everyone Out is growing, in 2021, a second location on Wellington's South Coast will be opening and running both holiday programmes and nature school.

Meet the team

Founder and Programme Manager

Rachel is an adventurous mum to three little ones. Rachel founded Everyone Out to fulfill her passion of seeing more children outside in nature - to see them realise the fun that can be had in nature and to allow more kiwi kids the time and freedom to play. Rachel is a self confessed pencil pusher and box ticker, which every great programme needs. She enjoys being on programme too especially going on trips and doing science experiments!

Kaiako (Teacher)

Daphne has been a school based educator for 20 years and a community recreation advisor with a speciality in play. She is passionate about promoting and providing self-directed outdoor play opportunities in Wellington’s rich natural environment. Daphne currently works along side Carys on Thursday at Nature School in Crofton Downs.

Holiday Programme Kaiako

Anne has many years of experience teaching and caring for children of all ages and abilities. She loved playing and learning at Playcentre alongside her daughter, Helena (the messy play guru). Anne loves to see kids freely playing and following their own interests. Anne currently lives in sunny Nelson but comes up to Wellington every school holidays to Lead our Holiday Programme in Crofton Downs.

Kaiako (Teacher)

Carys was thrilled to escape all the red tape of teaching in the UK back in 2013, and get back to...well...teaching! Through her work as kaiako, and raising her own tamariki here in NZ, she's discovered a passion for pushing her comfort zone through realising and embracing the incredible value risky and nature based play has on learning. Carys currently works at Nature School on Tuesday and Thursday in Crofton Downs.

Kaiako (Teacher)

Mina loves nothing more than being out and about in the mountains for days on end! She is a trained primary teacher and forest school leader as well as having experience in early childhood. Mina loves getting kids out into nature to explore, develop their self-confidence and discover the endless beauty of the natural world. Mina currently works along side Katie on Wednesday at Nature School in Island Bay.
